Hey Internet World!
Let me tell you – April has been a fast paced month. It was abundantly good with very little windows for disappointment to even detect. I’m officially forty years old and I just feel blessed with where I am today – Thanks to all the shout outs online and offline I’ve met and shared great moments with the acknowledgement to say thanks for being in my world and vice versa. Understand that I still haven’t mastered this imperfect thing called life but I can see great potential to capitalize on for this upcoming decade. I just thank Allah for getting me to this point and hope continued longevity will get me to the next decade. I’m just happy and recognize my blessings in my walk of life.
Prenatal/Quote of the month: ‘I love to desecrate my weaknesses simply because the panic that fuels those investments will sour when my diligence severs its uncertainty to become my favorite yet underrated Achilles heel.’ ~ Aquil H. Rowe *
Childhood/Man law of the month: No interference with the NFL Draft or NBA Playoffs! Make time for who you’re rooting for before the social scene sees your face.
Teenager/Business Transgressions: After supporting a couple of local artists at the Charles H. Wright Museum, I attended my first artist to artist support meeting at the Carr Center downtown to lend positive critiques to artists showcasing present work in addition to networking and was introduced to Henry Harper (Art Consultant) who turned around and invited me to my first Breakfast Club meeting on Mondays at an agreed upon location. A couple of weeks ago the group assembled at The 1917 American Bistro on Livernois and I adjusted to the crazy pace of meeting several people and interacting with folks who I believe I’ll be doing business with in the near future. Good day.
Twenties/Outside of the box thought: Being in my forties now I feel more established since I always told myself that I’ve essentially sacrificed the short term (30’s) for the longer phases of freedom (40’s & beyond) that I pray I continue to pursue and live out, but questions linger: What will my forties bring? Will I experience deeper emotions upon new viewpoints in the company of being more authoritative and committing less mistakes? We shall see……
Thirties/Business Transgressions 2: New website changes!!!! Earlier this week I saw the PDF of my new website look from MCS Multimedia and I absolutely love it!! We’re still working some details out in terms of yearly maintenance, but this is fundamentally the look that I wanted: A one stop shop to look at my monthly opinions, interact with my followers and sell some of my work. I’m blessed, man.
Forties/To wrap this up: Rest in peace, Prince Rogers Nelson. The iconic symbol, which people didn’t fully understand with his ‘Slave’ term on his cheek almost fifteen to sixteen years ago, represented business ownership and empowerment of his intellectual property, his diversity of supporters of his brand, musical longevity and defiant relevance since the late seventies. This is a major setback in terms of learning how he became successful for the next generation although he put out enough interviews to set a template on at least how to win in the music industry so the students of his craft are on the right path.
Fifties/Local Events: For young, future artist who would like to hone their budding artistic craft, check out the Abstract & Non Objective Art Forms sponsored by Art by SEWD at the Charles H. Wright Museum today. The event runs from 2PM-7PM with no experience necessary however a $40 charge is required for refreshments, door prizes and art supplies.
I don’t feel that much different but my arms are open for what may come into my life so until next month,
Aquil H. Rowe
