Considering that the great institution of Hip Hop is approaching the mature age of fifty years old, in my lifetime I’ve seen a lot of greats bless the mic with timeless lyricism, heartfelt sincerity and hard cadence while others should’ve chosen a different profession.
This was a topic I should’ve tackled years ago and although opinion based, these are my Top 10 all time wack rappers:
- Silk the Shocker, 2. Jim Jones, 3.Lil Boosie, 4.Maino, 5.Bizarre of D12, 6. Mase, 7. Benzino, 8. Iggy Izelia, 9. Missy Elliot, 10. Spider Loc
*Postscript – List is always subject to change depending on arbitrary level of disgust toward said wack rapper.
Honorable Mentions: (Those who just missed the cut after extensive deliberations and reshuffling: Ja Rule, Lil’ Flip, Soulja Boy, Hurricane Gloria, Vanilla Ice, Nelly, Tony Yayo)
Read em’ and weep.
Albeit that they may have legitimate fans and the machine of corporate radio may prop them up regardless of the era, yet honestly I could go the rest of my life without listening to any of their catalogues and be fine with it.
5. Quote of the month: Every action that you do is, in some sense, like a ritual that celebrates the values that you hold ~ Dr. Matthew Basston
4. Upcoming Local Events: On Saturday June 4th from 11A to 3P, be a part of an art affair fellowship promoting the ravishment and study of fine arts for women. The address is 3940 Audbon Road in Detroit, MI 48224. Fee is $50.
3. Man Law…..you sniveling cowards!!!! Man Law# 84 – Occasionally consider input from your boys on your female selections. With the climate of early breakups heading into summer, consider an all points bulletin for your esteemed peers to be on alert for rebounds with baggage, women your boys may have already dated and chicks that use you to make other women in their respective clique jealous.
- Business Lesson: Executing the process of elimination should deduce your future problems in running your business, for example consider the following questions:
→Has your niche yielded a customer base that you happily didn’t anticipate and are you appropriately capitalizing on those results?
→Has social media promoted your brand effectively thus saving you advertising dollars?
→Are you willing to accept new changes in the marketplace if they unexpectedly arrive?
→Do you have different voices in your inner circle or board members to not be all ‘yes men’ and tell you where you need to improve?
→Is your schedule filled or flooded with opportunities to move product?
Focus on what you have going for your and then start working on your troubles thereafter with time expectancies to conquer each one.
- A couple last things: I had a good weekend experience with the Artists Guild at Palmer Park May the 14th. Just hanging out at the event gave me good vibes and networking with the young artists was refreshing to see with how they’re utilizing their talents with such an early head start to mold their distant futures while being possible working partners in the near future.
Also – Happy Birthday to my momma Queen Jacqueline Rowe on her seventy first birthday. The whole fam loves you eternally.
So bask in the great weather this Memorial Day weekend and tell your family, loved ones and close associates you appreciate them being on your team.
The entrepreneurial journey continues,
Aquil H. Rowe
