Aruba: My new mental happy place 

Intro: Sorry for this abnormally late entry peoples – Just understand this: In a succinct word my Aruba vacay was classically fantastic. The numerous times I kept lying to myself in front of the mirror in my hotel room each morning with avowals of never returning back to Detroit were so vivid that losing myself in a fantasy week felt way better than any other alternative. Flipping through my phone to reminisce about Aruba is how I currently manage with job stress, setbacks and depression. Little reminder to self: Just always know that working hard for my slice of heaven anywhere on planet earth will be always well worth the temporary disconnection from reality.

The Entrepreneurial Push: Attention: I’m happy to announce that The Phillps family tree is expanding the brand! Check out my cousin Jackie’s Hunny Bunny’s Confections on Fox 8 Cleveland station. May many blessings and a flood of backorders come her way so if you’re looking to satisfy your sweet tooth, she’s the one to see.

Outside of box thought: Double blessings – After filling out my long awaited order for my new design business cards, I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Lititia White, curator of the Art City/LTG Graphics who is looking for up and coming art bosses (Real recognizes real) to showcase their work. After our meeting rendezvous two weekends ago to floss my portfolio, I emailed her my most appropriate pieces with a few requests of my own in return. I think this was divine timing to potentially debut my work sometime next year. Definitely a win.

Man Law #106 : Bitches of a feather flock together. Take for instance the Govan sisters from the ‘Basketball Wives’ VH1 famed plantation machine. While most game-wise gentlemen know they’re attention seeking and money hungry opportunists when any camera is cut on in front of them, I’d just like to tell you that once you give those types an inch they’ll take more than a mile as in: 1) Unreasonable child support payments, 2) Recruiting naive rookies to finance their bougie lifestyles, 3) Discovering simps to marry them regardless of tasteless reputations and 4) Being embroiled in shady money practices i.e. falsely forging signatures to siphon funds from your ex husband’s bank accounts while in court. Tisk, tisk, tisk.

My last thing: Get motivated by the obtuse schadenfreude (Pleasure in the misery of others) you see people assign towards certain people or situations if you happen to be the butt of the joke at the moment. Don’t sweat the small stuff and keep focus on the big picture in your life. That’s it, that’s all.

Once again: Flipping through my phone to reminisce about Aruba is……..♠♣Magical ♥♦

See you in late October/Early November,

Aquil H. Rowe
